Laura Linney, best known for portraying strong, but vulnerable characters, is one of the most celebrated American actors of our times. Her father was a renowned writer, however she was raised as a single child by her single-mother who was a nurse. In the summer when she was with her father Linney was able to develop a passion for theatre. She eventually studied acting initially in Brown University then at Juilliard School. After just two short years after graduation the actress began her Broadway career. In the following year, she made her first appearance in film and television. Her appearances have been in a variety of films, and television and stage shows since. In her long career, she has received several awards. Some of them includes 2 Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards as well as three Academy Award nominations and five Tony Award nominations. In spite of all these awards, her passion for the theatre isn't gone, and she performs in the stage and on screen.
