Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actress, dancer and performer since the beginning of the 1990s. Her first roles on Broadway include in the productions Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. She was awarded her Tony Award for Best Featured actress in the Play for playing Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh is a collaborator in projects with award-winning directors, actors, and producers throughout her career. Ashford will next be seen as a co-star with Kumail Nanjiani as part of the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford currently works in Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust alongside Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. The film will stream through Disney's DTC platforms, as well as Hulu Original. Ashford will return in 2023 and will star alongside Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre to perform the revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same team who brought us Hamilton directed the musical. Ashford was last seen in the role of Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The show centers around the National Crisis, which saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as the central figure in the country's First Impeachment Proceedings in Over an Century. Ashford was the main character in two seasons of CBS comedy B Positive. The show was created by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda Lavin Sheryl Crow, Hector Elizondo as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her portrayal of Essie in You Can't Take It with You was a winner of the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Additional Broadway credits for Ashford are Sunday in the Park, in which she starred with George Wicked legally Blonde, as well as the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance, she was awarded an Tony Award nomination. Ashford splits her life between Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver and was raised in Denver.
